Kurma Restorative Yoga Teacher Training

Soak in the ancient practice of restorative yoga and learn how to keep yourself and your students nourished, relaxed and grounded during this 15-hour Yoga Alliance-approved continuing education class for certified yoga teachers. The three-day training, taught by Deanna Sidoti, will be held on December 7, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.; December 8, from 2 to 7 p.m.; and December 9, from 1 to 6 p.m. It will be primarily focused on the techniques and subtleties of teaching restorative yoga, which include understanding the anatomy of the spine, intelligent sequencing and how to practice clear directives in your classroom.

The restorative yoga training covers an overview of the central nervous system, parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous systems and the relaxation response. Students will learn how to adapt the practice for beginners, intermediate and special populations and include an introduction on how to modify for back issues. Sidoti will spend time exploring pranayama, how to focus class energy and how to adapt the teaching style for a studio setting, groups and private classes.

Sidoti is the founder of Dhyana Yoga Arts and has been teaching restorative yoga since 2008 and mentoring teachers since 2010. She also specializes in yoga for back care and scoliosis, and alignment vinyasa.
