Natural Awakenings North Central New Jersey

Wagner Farm Arboretum Recipient of Whole Foods Five-Percent Day

Warren Township’s Wagner Farm Arboretum recently received a check for $8,584 from Whole Foods Market as part of the natural food chain’s “Community Giving Day” program. The amount represented five percent of one day’s net sales at Whole Foods’ Millburn-Union and Madison stores.

Whole Foods’ generous donation will help fund the arboretum’s Greenhouse Project, starting with the construction of three new greenhouses. These greenhouses will further the arboretum’s mission to provide educational programs, a native planting area and a butterfly conservatory, all available to the community. The third greenhouse will be instrumental in helping the arboretum’s Growing-to-Give program, which provides a protected environment to grow fresh produce that is donated to local food banks.

Established in 2004, Wagner Farm Arboretum is a nonprofit organization that provides environmental and horticultural education in ongoing events for children and adults through the development of plant life in a natural suburban learning setting.
