Neat Retreats Offers Fifth Adventure in Costa Rica

A Neat Retreat in Costa Rica

Neat Retreats, LLC, is a New Jersey–based company that was created five years ago by JoAnn Jones and Kathy Landers, two friends with a vision of offering healthy and holistic retreats in wonderful places.  Their first venture was Costa Rica, 2008: Twelve participants visited the Manuel Antonio Natural Reserve on the Pacific Ocean, stayed in a charming B&B with ocean views and immersed themselves in the jungle with all its sounds and beauty.  From meditation and yoga classes on the deck, to fresh breakfasts in the host’s house and private Reiki treatments, the most important part of the trip was and continues to be the experience of the particular location.   Neat Retreats is offering itsfifth adventure to Costa Rica on March 21–28, 2013, beginning in Manuel Antonio and ending at the Arenal Volcano area with accommodations at the famous organic farm of Rancho Margot.

Jones and Landers choose venues that are eco-friendly, submerged in the culture of the people and landscape, beautiful, and less expensive than many other retreat sites. Jones is an author of anatomy texts through Lotus Publishing & North Atlantic Books, a certified Hatha Yoga and Power Pilates instructor, and aprofessor of kinesiology and dance. Landers is a Reiki master and teacher with the International Center for Reiki Training and a member of the International Association of Reiki Professionals.

Locally they have sponsored day and weekend events throughout the tri-state area.  These include stress reduction clinics, mother-daughter retreats, yoga and Reiki classes, drumming workshops with percussionist Chuck Wood, and healing retreats complete with massage, essential oils, private classes and treatments, stretch workshops, Pilates, hiking, kayaking and environmental education.

Neat Retreats will sponsor its third annual Women's Retreat May 4–5, 2013 at the Pocono Environmental Center.  They have also added a new location next year:  the south of France, for a week-long wine, yoga & Reiki retreat, September 21–28.

5 Top Tips to Finding Your Next Doctor

1 Keep an Open Mind! Healthcare has come a long way. Today, you have access to practitioners that branch outside of traditional medicine and aim to identify the root causes of conditions while using alternative treatments that may help you get the relief you need. Just because it’s not a pill, doesn’t make it pseudoscience.

2 Build Your Health Care Team. There is no one doctor that can be the be-all-end-all for your health needs. Be sure to have a team of practitioners with different “lenses” and areas of expertise who will treat the root cause and not just the symptom(s).

3   Environment Influences Healing. Health is multi-factorial. Your mental and emotional environment plays a pivotal role in your healing potential. Your doctors and their staff should create an office atmosphere filled with positivity so you can get the most out of your care.

4 Your Story Matters.  Before you begin any treatment, be sure to have a comprehensive consultation to discuss your health concerns. Find practitioners who welcome questions and will take the time to listen and treat you with respect.

5 Report of Findings. When it comes to our health, we often make decisions without understanding the risk versus benefits. Knowledge is an important part of the healing process and is essential to make conscious, informed health decisions. Find practitioners who take the time to explain their exam findings and the recommendations for treatment in ways that make sense to you.
