Natural Awakenings North Central New Jersey

Expediting Emotional Healing with Shiome Therapy

Shiome therapy was created by Judith Hancox, MSW, LCSW in 1999 as an evolving therapeutic approach, incorporating some of the most expedient, efficient, scientifically based psychotherapeutic healing techniques in existence. Shiome therapy incorporates yoga, meditation, gestalt, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Evolving Thought Field Therapy and Shamanic healing traditions to gently move people into a healthy balance. The synthesis of these techniques has been shown to accelerate the body's natural healing abilities.

  • Yoga: Yoga means “to yoke,” a union of our individual ego, personality, with our Higher Self, Higher Power. Yoga helps support the sometimes-intense processing sessions by helping you maintain safety and awareness with an objective perspective.
  • Gestalt: Gestalt means "whole." Gestalt Therapy creatively guides one to reclaim and unite lost or shattered pieces of the traumatized self, with focused, conscious, awareness.
  • Evolving Thought Field Therapy (EvTFT): EvTFT incorporates the science of Applied Kinesiology (muscle testing for biofeedback) and Energy Psychology. EvTFT rapidly releases bound or trapped emotional energy that disturbs one's nervous system.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): EMDR is a potent therapeutic method with established success in treating post-traumatic stress disorders. EMDR helps release the negative impact of traumatic life experiences locked in the nervous system by ‘jump starting’ the brain’s inherent healing capacity. Bilateral brain stimulation helps integrate both hemispheres—the thinking part with the feeling part. It is similar to the natural processing of the brain during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, the dream state, but clients are awake and aware during EMDR.

Jud ith A. Hancox, MSW, LCSW, is a board-certified expert in traumatic stress. Hancox recently returned to New Jersey and practices in Succasunna. Also certified in yoga, Gestalt, EMDR, and Energy Psychology, she blends ancient wisdom with modern science. For more information, call 973-585-4660 or visit Shiome.com.

5 Top Tips to Finding Your Next Doctor

1 Keep an Open Mind! Healthcare has come a long way. Today, you have access to practitioners that branch outside of traditional medicine and aim to identify the root causes of conditions while using alternative treatments that may help you get the relief you need. Just because it’s not a pill, doesn’t make it pseudoscience.

2 Build Your Health Care Team. There is no one doctor that can be the be-all-end-all for your health needs. Be sure to have a team of practitioners with different “lenses” and areas of expertise who will treat the root cause and not just the symptom(s).

3   Environment Influences Healing. Health is multi-factorial. Your mental and emotional environment plays a pivotal role in your healing potential. Your doctors and their staff should create an office atmosphere filled with positivity so you can get the most out of your care.

4 Your Story Matters.  Before you begin any treatment, be sure to have a comprehensive consultation to discuss your health concerns. Find practitioners who welcome questions and will take the time to listen and treat you with respect.

5 Report of Findings. When it comes to our health, we often make decisions without understanding the risk versus benefits. Knowledge is an important part of the healing process and is essential to make conscious, informed health decisions. Find practitioners who take the time to explain their exam findings and the recommendations for treatment in ways that make sense to you.
